I strongly suggest checking out they have great meta-reviews of products, and generally give you a lot of information and considerations that they've made while evaluating the equipment.ĭepends on a lot of factors. Also, with another set of speakers, I can have a second zone and play different music in a different room. With the new receiver (an Onkyo), they have a remote app for my phone that I can do all the controls directly from. I hate wasting TV time (which is not infinite) just so I could thumbs up a song on pandora. But, if I wanted to change the channel or anything, I had to have the TV on. I run a Home Theater Computer into my TV, so I used it a lot for music when I had the sound bar. The plus with the full fledged receiver, for me at least, is that I can listen to music without having the TV on. Eventually I'll get a subwoofer, some stand speakers, and another set of bookshelf speakers so I can do full 7.1, but for now, 3 speakers more than do the job. My sound bar recently started to crap out on me, so I finally dropped the cash on a receiver, and picked up a set of bookshelf speakers and a center channel. For me, I went with a sound bar first, but (IMHO) they're fairly expensive for what you get, which is not much other than just better sound. Samsung should be embarrassed by the sound quality, I can't even listen to it without getting a headache. I have a Samsung also, and when I first turned it on I was seriously appalled.
